Live bus timetable, fares & boarding points

Bangalore to Ooty is about 270 km via Mysuru, Gundlupet and the Bandipur–Mudumalai forests, climbing into the Nilgiri hills in Tamil Nadu. KSRTC runs 9 online-bookable buses a day, from 06:16 AM to 11:15 PM: mostly Airavat Club Class Volvo AC buses (₹1,194–₹1,317), plus one Ashwamedha express (₹983) and one Non AC Sleeper (₹988). Day buses take about 7 to 8 hours; night buses take 9 to 11 hours because they wait for the forest road to reopen in the morning. Ooty is one of South India's most popular hill stations, especially for summer and weekend trips from Bengaluru.

Travel Tips
- Day buses (06:16 AM, 09:17 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:45 PM) are the fastest, at about 7 to 8 hours, and you see the Bandipur forest and the ghat road in daylight.
- Night buses leave Bengaluru between 09:45 PM and 11:15 PM and reach Ooty in the morning. They take longer because night traffic through the Bandipur and Mudumalai tiger reserves is restricted.
- The last stretch is a winding ghat road with many hairpin bends. Take motion-sickness tablets if needed and avoid a heavy meal before the climb.
- Ooty is cold even in summer and very cold from November to February. Carry a jacket, and book early for April–May holidays and long weekends.
Best time to travel: March to June is peak season with pleasant days; October to February is cold but clear. June to September brings heavy rain on the Nilgiri ghats, which can slow the bus.
